In light of our Oral-B electronic toothbrush giveaways (go like &share!!) we decided to pull out some fun facts about traditional toothbrushes VS. electronic! What are the pros and cons and why should you choose one over the other? Here is low-down as to which toothbrush will benefit your dental health the best!

Traditional

Pros:

  • Control- People with sensitive teeth may prefer a traditional form of brushing, as they can adjust how hard or soft the motion is.
  • Cost- This is an obvious pro, as traditional toothbrushes can be as cheap as a dollar.

Cons:

  • Effectiveness- People may not know the proper length, routine and motion needed for effectively brushing their teeth. The improper use of a traditional toothbrush can be a main cause for poor dental hygiene.
  • Boring- With a traditional toothbrush people may think of brushing as a chore to just get over with. This may result in the incorrect length of time to properly brush teeth.

Electric

Pros:

  • Fun- There’s no denying that an electric toothbrush bring s a little ‘pizazz’ to brushing teeth, therefore making it more exciting to use.
  • Efficient- Most electronic toothbrushes have a self timer of up to two minutes that tell you when you’ve brushed your teeth for the correct amount of time. This will always leave you with overall brushing perfection!
  • Effective- Electronic toothbrushes have advanced technology that was designed to properly clean each and every tooth, with movement and force, getting the in-between spots you may not reach by hand.

Cons:

  • Cost- Electronic toothbrushes can range from 30 to 100 dollars depending on the brand and advancements.
  • Sensitivity- Electronic toothbrushes may be too forceful for sensitive gums. On the bright side, the more you use an effective toothbrush, the stronger your teeth and gums will become.
