Blackburn Shoppes Dental Centre is the home of
Dr. Chantal Plant. We opened our doors in August 2003 and have been proudly working in our community since.

After working for other dentists for five years, Dr. Plant decided it was time for her to build her dream clinic. One that would focus on providing outstanding customer service and the highest standards of dental care. We’re happy to say that almost 10 years later, we’re still following that goal.

Our professional staff has grown over the years. Only two employees worked with Dr. Plant in the early days of the practice. Currently, we have eight employees and Dr. Plant’s associates, and Dr. Florenta Gimurtu, serving our patients. Everyone on the team takes pride in their work, and we are continuously looking for opportunities to expand our knowledge base to better serve our clientele.

Here at Blackburn Shoppes Dental Centre we pride ourselves in being able to treat the whole family. From the age of 1 to 100, we will accommodate to your needs and special circumstances to give you your ultimate dental experience.

In addition to general dentistry, we provide:

Surgical Services

Tooth Extraction

Your dentist will numb the area to lessen any discomfort. After the extraction, your Ottawa Family Dentist will advise you of what post extraction regimen to follow.

Cosmetic Services

Braces

Orthodontic treatment is used to correct a “bad bite.” This condition, known as a malocclusion, involves teeth that are crowded or crooked.

Cosmetic Dentistry

A smile can be the most eye-catching feature of a face. With dentistry’s many advances, you no longer have to settle for stained, chipped, or misshapen teeth. You now have choices that can help you smile with confidence.

Crowns

If you want a smile that’s your crowning glory, you may need a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance.

Veneers

There’s no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. Veneers are placed on top of your teeth to correct nature’s mistake or the results of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile.

Teeth Whitening

Everybody loves a bright white smile. Here at Blackburn Shoppes Dental Centre we have a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the look of your smile.

Bonding

Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. With bonding, tooth-coloured materials are applied, or bonded, to the tooth surface.

Enamel Shaping

Enamel shaping involves modifying teeth to improve their appearance by removing or contouring enamel. The process, which often is combined with bonding, usually is quick and comfortable and the results can be seen immediately.

General Services

Dental Fillings

Learn about the three most common dental fillings: amalgam fillings, composite fillings and gold-coloured fillings.

Dental Implants

Surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments, implants fuse to the jawbone and serve as a base for individual replacement teeth, bridges or a denture.

Dental Sealants

A sealant is a plastic material that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids.

Dentures

If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and restore your smile.

Root Canals

Once upon a time, if you had a tooth with a diseased nerve, you’d probably lose that tooth. Today, with a special dental procedure called a root canal therapy you may save that tooth.

Tooth Extraction

Your dentist will numb the area to lessen any discomfort. After the extraction, your Ottawa Family Dentist will advise you of what post extraction regimen to follow.

X-Rays

With the help of radiographs (the proper term for pictures taken with X-rays), your dentist can look at what is happening beneath the visible oral tissues. Dental X-ray examinations provide valuable information that your dentist could not collect otherwise.

Dental Emergencies

Accidents do happen, and knowing what to do when one occurs can mean the difference between saving and losing a tooth. We always reserve time in our daily schedules for emergency patients.

Mouthguards and Sportguards

A properly fitted mouthguard can help prevent broken teeth and injuries to the lips, tongue, face or jaw. Use a mouthguard during any activity that could result in a blow to the face or mouth.
